Movie „Five Friends“

Empfehlung von Talke Flörcken – Danke!

About the Movie „Five Friends“ – No man can make the journey alone.

Trailer!

„Early American writer and philosopher, Elbert Hubbard, said, „My father always used to say that when you die, if you’ve got five real friends, you’ve had a great life.“ Five Friends is the story of how one man sought to live that life.

We live in the age of the “bromance.” Never has pop culture been so fascinated with male friendships. What do they look like? Why are they important? And how do we talk about them without seeming … unmanly? Films like “I Love You, Man” or the recent GQ article entitled “Are You Man Enough for the Man-Date?” are just a couple of examples of how society is wrestling with what male relationships look like in our evolving society. But even the word “bromance” implies a certain awkwardness and uncertainty about how to refer to these close relationships between men…“

The dudes in the kitchen at my work are incredibly close, but they wouldn’t be, probably, if they met at a book club—they’re brought together by their weekly butchery of a fresh pig. This kind of sucks for me, because emotion is my favourite activity…“

How our housing choices make adult friendships more difficult

Source: http://www.vox.com/2015/10/28/9622920/housing-adult-friendship

Updated by David Roberts

“ most Americans only know single-family dwellings and auto-dependent land use. They cannot even articulate what they are missing and often misidentify the solution as more or different private consumption.

But I do not think we should just accept that when we marry and start families, we atomize, and our friendships, like our taste in music, freeze where they were in college. We shouldn’t just accept a way of living that makes interactions with neighbors and friends a burden that requires special planning.

We should recognize that by shrinking our network of strong social ties to our immediate families, we lose something important to our health and social identities, with the predictable result that we are ridden with anxiety and loneliness. We are meant to have tribes, to be among people who know us and care about us.“ read more >
